Love scones

the heart is upside down, can you flip your head?
I awoke early this morning with a mission. A mission to make some scones for Mandy as part of my Valentine’s gift. Scones are surprisingly easy to make. Preparation was about 15 minutes, cooking the same.
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 cups self-raising flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
Method
- Set oven at 220 C
- Rub butter into flour and salt using fingertips
- Mix into a soft dough using most of the milk. Add a little more of the milk if required
- Turn onto a lightly floured board and knead for a short time, until smooth
- Roll out until 2cm thick and cut into 12 shapes using a round cutter
- Arrange on oven tray and glaze tops with milk
- Bake for 10-15 minutes, until golden brown. To test, see if the sides of the scone are set
- Cool on a tray
As an extra feature, I mixed together some flour, water and pink food die to make some ‘food ink’ that I then used to draw heart shaped patterns on top of the scones.
Bundled the scones together with some cream and jam, and then met Mandy in a park near her house to eat them. It was a lovely breakfast, and she seemed happy with the effort I put in.
Valentine’s Day!
Mark and I had a very fun Valentines Day doing not much and eating lots.
My present for him was felt dolls of me and him, which I had spent about 2 weeks on! The stitching was pretty bad (and visible to boot) but I guess they were good enough. Mark seemed happy to receive them :)

v-day present for Mark; felt heart card
I made a little bag out of flannel material I found in my grandmother’s scrap fabric box. In it I put the dolls and also a little red felt heart.

We made lamb burgers for lunch – super tasty! :D Toast with tomatoes, lettuce, lamb mince patties, cheese and sauce in between. I put double cheese on mine because I’m a glutton. The burger was far too large for my mouth, and I ended up getting globs of sauce all over my face!

Burgers - the taller one is mine! (of course)
